Dr. Privette (Allen) was born at Fort Polk, a United States Army installation located in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. Born into a military family, Dr. Privette moved frequently, living in several locations including Colorado, Kentucky, Texas, and the South American country of Panama.
After graduating high school, Dr. Privette enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served for 6 years. Upon an honorable discharge, he began his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M, prior to moving to Florida to help his aunt and uncle with their family farm. It was while working on the family farm that Dr. Privette realized his passion for helping animals. He enrolled in the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with Honors in 1996.
Prior to joining University Animal Hospital in 2002, Dr. Privette worked several large and small animal emergency and relief jobs throughout Florida. He enjoys all aspects of his profession, with special interest in surgery and emergency, critical care medicine.
When not working, Dr. Privette enjoys spending time with his wife Linda, his son Ben, and doing anything outdoors, including biking, fishing, diving, boating, and riding his motorcycle. Dr. Privette is also an avid Gator fan and enjoys watching college football alongside his wife, who is an avid Georgia Bulldawg fan. The Privette family currently includes 3 four-legged children, Skeeter, an Australian Shepherd and familiar face at UAH, Hootie, a mixed breed rescue, Copey a 16-year-old miniature poodle, 2 turtles Gary and Michelangelo, and several fish.
