Veterinary Technician

Jessica

Jessica joined the University Animal Hospital team in the midst of working on her Bachelor of Biology, with goals to obtain her doctorate in Veterinary Forensics. The fields of pathology, osteopathy, and nutrition fuel her “nerdy side”, and to gift her a cytology slide would be comparable to giving a kitten an empty box. Jessica can be found in her spare moments sitting cross-legged on the floor, sifting through the latest veterinary peer review journals, and picking the brains of the hospital veterinarians. She finds balance between her purpose and passion with intermural sports, yoga, and Olympic weightlifting. -“For me, I love the interactions I see within the families I meet. I not only get to share tips and tricks with first time owners but listen to the experiences held by multi-pet families. I hold hands and provide a shoulder for those who are making difficult decisions. In these snapshots of time, I get to be a part of the intimate relationships between owner and pet. I act as a bridge to lessen confusion between the medicinal world and regular society, a privilege only a few possess.”
