Distemper: attacks the nervous system — this virus can develop into pneumonia — most common victims are puppies.

Hepatitis:  a viral disease which affects the liver

Parvo virus: a viral disease which affects the intestines — this virus is very contagious to unprotected pets and can live in the area for months — this virus can be transmitted on our shoes and other articles — the main symptoms are depression, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting.

Parainfluenza: a viral disease which affects the lungs causing flu like symptoms.

Bordetella: a bacterial disease causing canine tracheobronchitis, also known as "Kennel Cough" is very contagious to other dogs.  The cough can last up to 6 weeks.

Corona:  a viral disease which affects the intestines — close cousin to parvo virus.

Fecal floatation: stool sample taken to check for intestinal parasites — we are typically looking for hookworms, roundworms whipworms, coccidia, giardia, and tapeworms. Deworming is done at your puppies first and second visits along with the fecal test.

Heartworm Preventative: heartworms are caused by mosquitoes therefore, it is imperative that your pet stay on heartworm preventative for life. Your technician will go over your preventative choices.

                                        Feline Vaccine Information

FVRCP (Feline Distemper, Chlamydia, Rhinotracheitis, and Calici Virus): Feline distemper affects the intestinal tract and blood cells and will also cause runny nose and eyes. Chlamydia, Rhinotracheitis, and Calici are all upper respiratory viruses that cause sneezing, runny eyes and nose, ulcers in the mouth, and pneumonia.

Feline Leukemia: this viral causes forms of cancer and breaks down the immune system.

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV): is a viral disease much like HIV in humans and is passed by the bite of an infected cat. This virus like leukemia also breaks down the immune system. We do have a combo blood test that screens for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP): this viral disease which causes fever, malaise and sometimes causes fluid retention in the abdomen and/or thorax. This disease is almost always fatal.  It is very contagious and is passed through bodily fluids.

Fecal floatation: stool sample taken to check for intestinal parasites — we are typically looking for hookworms, roundworms, whipworms, coccidia, giardia, and tapeworms. Deworming is done at your kittens first and second visits along with the fecal test.
